Open Senate Session for the 10th Graduation of Politeknik Negeri Tanah Laut
Politala- Wednesday 6 October 2021, Tanah Laut State Polytechnic held an Open Senate Session in the context of the 10th Graduation of Associate Expert Degrees with the theme “Preparing Excellent Graduates Who Are Able to Partner at Global Level”. Taking place at the Politala Open Field, this Graduation event has gone through strict health protocols and taking into account the low level of Covid-19 spread in Tanah Laut Regency, namely Level 2.
The day before the Graduation event, all 299 prospective female graduates have taken the Covid-19 Antigen Test and have been declared negative for Covid-19. Meanwhile, during the event, all invited guests and all students who will be at the Graduation are required to wash their hands before entering the event location and wear masks.
The Graduation ceremony was attended by the Governor of South Kalimantan Sahbirin Noor, Head of BPKP South Kalimantan Rudy M. Harahap, Ak., MM, Ph.d, the Regent of Tanah Laut represented by the Assistant Three for General Administration of the Tanah Laut Secretariat Safarin, the Politala Trustee Board Dr. . Sihabuddin Chalid, MM.Pd, representatives of Tanah Laut District Government agencies, representatives of the Tanah Laut Police, representatives of the 1009 Pelaihari Kodim and representatives from DUDI (Business and Industry).
The Open Senate Session in the context of Politala’s 10th Graduation began with singing together the national anthem Indonesia Raya and Mars Politala. The event was officially opened by the Director of Politala and Chair of the Senate Politala Mufrida Zein. Followed by the reading of prayers and reading the holy verses of the Qur’an.
Furthermore, the Chief Executive of the 2021 Graduation, Yuliana Ningsih, S.S., M.Hum, read the announcement of the best graduates, lecturers and education staff for 2021 and continued with the delivery of remarks by the Director of Politala.
The Director of Politala, in his speech, congratulated the graduates who have completed their DIII education at Politala and will be graduating today. The Director also revealed in front of all invited guests that, within 12 years Politala has graduated 1,465 graduates, with an absorption of 82.90% graduates.
The Director continued, saying, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Politala continues to move and improve the quality of its Vocational Education. Lectures are also carried out in a hybrid way, namely through online and offline.
At the end of his speech, the Director advised the graduates to prioritize good morals and character. “Keep asking for prayers from parents, because the pleasure of parents is the blessing of God. With the competencies that you currently have, you are already competent in the world of work,” said the Director.
In the scientific oration session entitled Virtual Leadership: Leading in the Crisis of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Rudy M. Harahap also congratulated all graduates who have won an Associate Expert or DIII degree at Politala.
In the contents of his scientific oration, Rudy put forward the importance of digital transformation during the current Covid-19 pandemic. He further explained that regarding leadership in digital transformation, there are several things that need to be considered, such as focusing on people, focusing on soft skills, encouraging change from above, acting on data and if you fail quickly, make sure you succeed slowly.
Meanwhile, to become a good Virtual Leader, there are several things that must be done including, communicating with the right method, making clear and precise communication, prioritizing building and fostering relationships, making the team feel cared for, the last one is taking care of yourself or maintaining health. “Once again I say that digital transformation is about talent or human talent and not about technology,” said Rudy M. Harahap at the end of the speech.
The Graduation Procession was carried out wisely by all graduates. However, there was something different about the Graduation procession this time. Parents or guardians of the graduate are not allowed to take part in the Graduation procession at the location of the event but take part in the Graduation procession online or online.
The Governor of South Kalimantan, Sahbirin Noor, who took the time to attend Politala’s 10th Graduation ceremony, also gave a speech and congratulated all the graduates. In his remarks, Sahbirin Noor, who is also called Uncle Birin, advised all invited guests and the public to remain vigilant against Covid-19.
“Let’s take care, we maintain the situation and conditions, let’s invite our people to follow the vaccination. On behalf of myself and the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan, I congratulate you on the 10th Graduation of the Tanah Laut State Polytechnic, hopefully the graduates will continue to advance and prosper in the Province of South Kalimantan and in Indonesia,” concluded the Governor.
